A great experience
Wie alle Klassen der Jahrgangsstufe 10 war auch die 10.2 (CHRI/HANO) in der Woche ab 15.9.13 in England. Judith und Lea verfassten einen Bericht über ihre Klassenfahrt, natürlich auf Englisch. Vielen Dank dafür, und jetzt bitte
On the 15th of September our class went to England. We met on Sunday at 7 o’clock. Our bus was already there. Some minutes later we put our luggage into the bus. There was another class from Herford we went with. After we drove about 12 hours with the bus and 3 hours with the ferry we got to our hotel in Hastings (White Rock Mansion) at 10pm. Then we went to our rooms.
On Monday we had a guided tour in Hastings. A guide told us some facts about Hastings e.g. Hastings‘ Lifeboat. Later we had time to go around in Hastings.
Tuesday was our first day in London. We drove by bus. And we started in Greenwich with a boat tour on the Thames. We saw a lot of sights like the London Eye and the Tower Bridge where we got off the boat. The first trip with the London Underground was with our teachers to Tower Hill Underground Station. Now we all knew how to use the Underground and we could go to Museums in small groups. At 6:30pm we all met again at Cleopatra’s Needle.
On Wednesday we went to Battle Abbey (Battle of Hastings). We walked around with the teachers and visited a room, where we could do experiments and watched a film about the battle. After that we drove to Canterbury. There we had some time for shopping. Then we all met in front of the Cathedral of Canterbury. In the Cathedral we had an Audio Guide Tour. The next stop was the Shopping Centre in Ashford. Then we all went home.
Our second day in London was Thursday. When we got there we walked together to Buckingham Palace. On the walk we saw Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. At the Buckingham Palace we could see the changing of the guard. And the British flag was on the roof, so the Queen was at home. Then we split in groups. Our group was at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Millennium Bridge, Kings Cross (Platform 9¾) and Harrods. In the evening we met again at Cleopatra’s Needle.
On our last day we packed our luggage in the morning. After we put it into the bus we drove with a lift on the cliffs. There was a big meadow and the view over Hastings and the ocean was great. In the afternoon we ate together in a small restaurant. The rest of the day we could do what we want. At 4pm we drove back to Germany. At 5:30am we were back in Germany at FFG.
The Class trip was a great experience for everybody. We liked it very much.
